Lisa Hall | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| December 8, 1955 – November 7, 2000. Her successful long-term career in management gave her a special extended family of countless friends which culminated in a position of Vice-President and Banking Center Manager for Bank One, after many long years working for Tom Thumb and Best Buy. Lisa held a special love for all children, had an unmatched loyalty to her friends, and had a fierce determination to overcome any obstacle that life placed before her. Her dry wit, her fire, her courage, and her poise made her a feisty, “tall,” and fearless commander of every situation. She was a Big Sister to her “little sister” Micah, and received much joy working with that organization. She was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Jack Rumbley Music Department |

|
12-30-09 Mr. Rumbley died December
30th, at the age of 79 after a hard struggle against cancer. A legendary
musician, Jack was always comfortable with drum sticks in his hands as he
played drums, timpani, and all the mallet instruments. Born in Cleburne,
Texas, to Lee and Viola Rumbley, Jack began drum lessons at the age of ten.
He played in the Cleburne High School marching band and on weekends studied
percussion at TCU. Jack has a BA and an MA from the University of North
Texas Music School.
While in college he played in the UNT
symphony, marching band, and the lab band. He was also the drummer for a
special UNT show band, The Aces, conducted by Floyd Graham. Jack was a
member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Phi Mu Alpha music
fraternity. When he completed his college years, he served in the Fourth
Army Band, San Antonio, Texas. This fine headquarters band played for many
special occasions and often drummer Rumbley was featured. After service in
the army, Jack went to Alice, Texas, where he was high school band director.
He also played timpani in the Corpus Christi Symphony and played drum set
with local bands. Returning to Dallas, Jack taught in the DISD. He was band director at Greiner Middle
School, David W. Carter High School, and then music teacher at Tom C. Gooch
Elementary School. A long time fixture at Carter, Mr. Rumbley was much loved
by the students at Carter High School, and often directed the band (and/or
orchestra) for the many musicals at the school. Later, he was the drum teacher at Mountain
View College and Dallas Baptist University. And all this while, he was a
"jobbing" musician playing with most of the fine combos and big
bands in the north Texas area. He was also comfortable playing in recording
studios where he was featured in many musical commercials. He spent 40
summers in the pit orchestra at Casa Manana, Ft. Worth. If other musicians
had a question about any musical, they could find their answers from Jack.
He knew every show by memory. However, his heart was always with the Ft.
Worth Symphony where he played timpani for 40 seasons. When he retired from the Ft. Worth
Symphony, he joined the East Texas Symphony in Tyler as tipanist. Jack was a
beloved Sunday School teacher at First Baptist. He also led the singing in
his department. He was truly happy playing and conducting music. But, Jack
was also a loving husband to Rose-Mary. He was a loving and giving father to
his daughter, Jill Beam, her husband Ken, and grandchildren, Cassandra and
her children Brandon and Kenny and grandson, Daulton, and his child, Mary
Beth. Jack was a loving and giving father to his son, Phil, his wife Karen
and grandson, Scotty. The music world has lost a very talented drummer, and
his friends will miss the many stories he loved to tell about happenings on
the "gig." However, Jack is adding much to the heavenly choir and
orchestra. |
